Shower Shelf Installation
Some Simple Steps to Follow:
New Tile Installation
- Tile walls using 2-3mm spacing for grout Joints. Make sure the grout lines are clean and clear of thinset.
- Using masking tape, mask off the shelf where the pattern meets the frame of the shelf (top and bottom) Leave about 1/8” of the frame exposed.
- Before grouting, use the shelf to mark out where it will be placed in the corner. Grout the walls, leave the marked grout line empty.
- When grout is fully dry, take Silicone Caulking and fill the grout line where the shelf will be inserted. Insert the shelf.
- Now apply silicone caulking where the frame of the shelf meets the tile (top and bottom). Smooth out the silicone lines and remove the masking Tape.
Retrofit/DIY Installation
- Select the grout joint where you’d like to see your shelf. Mark the grout where the tabs will be inserted. (we used masking tape to mark it out)
- Using an Oscillating tool or drill, remove the grout where the 5 tabs will be inserted. Remove any debris with a knife (*be careful not to cut out more than the width of the shelf tabs so as not to damage the waterproofing behind the tile.) Dry fit the shelf to make sure the frame fits tight against the tile wall.
- Now, using masking tape, mask off the shelf where the pattern meets the frame of the shelf. Leave about 1/8” of the frame exposed.
- Using Silicone caulking (we like using a Translucent white silicone), fill the 5 gaps in the grout. Insert the shelf.
- Now apply silicone caulking where the frame of the shelf meets the tile (top and bottom). Smooth out the silicone lines and remove the masking Tape.
